Job description
Butler Rose is exclusively partnering with an innovative company that has successfully expanded from a spin-off venture originating from Oxford University. As part of a dynamic and growth-focused business, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and operational excellence across the organisation. Reporting directly to the CFO, this key position will take full responsibility for managing group financial accounting, governance, processes, systems, and audits for all legal entities across Europe, including their consolidation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee month-end and year-end processes, managing group legal entities and liaising with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
* Drive process improvements and system enhancements, focusing on areas for automation and increasing team productivity.
* Manage trial balances, reconciliations, cost analysis, cost variances, and the general ledger, including foreign exchange, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, and CAPEX.
* Ensure compliance with sales tax, VAT, corporate tax, and R&D tax matters.
* Oversee treasury policies, including banking, payments, personal expenses, and cash flow optimisation.
* Manage payroll, benefits, and pension schemes for legal entities.
* Handle share options and cap table management.
* Lead ad-hoc projects and team management, collaborating closely with the CFO, FP&A managers, HR, and other departments as required.
The Group Financial Controller will manage a senior accountant and an accounts assistant, with a strong focus on financial control across all group legal entities. This is a strategic leadership role that combines technical expertise with stakeholder management, driving the continued success and growth of the business.
