Job description
Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Financial Controller for a well established and reputable organisation in Plymouth.
This is a vital role within the organisation where you will manage a finance team, providing an essential service to the wider business. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders, communicating effectively and efficiently.
Key duties will include:
* Lead, motivate and proactively manage and develop staff in the Finance Team ensuring the department looks to continuously improve and provide good value for money.
* Management of the statutory finance functions, ensuring financial activities are effectively carried out including tax and regulatory returns.
* Take a lead role in maintaining the financial integrity of corporate structures and controls for income, expenditures and assets.
* Co-ordinate financial business continuity plans including asset and liability registers and financial recovery planning.
* Provide effective management of VAT matters.
* Assist the preparation and updating of the Business Plan and strategic appraisal of the organisation's finances.
* Ensure that key balance sheet reconciliations are performed regularly.
* To lead the preparation of the annual Financial Statements for the organisation and its subsidiaries at a company and consolidated level.
* To liaise with External Auditors for all statutory and other audit requirements.
The successful candidate will be a formally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a mixture of strong technical skills and the ability to lead and manage a team effectively. You will have prior experience of working in a managerial finance role, liaising with both internal and external individuals / bodies.
