Buyer - Taunton
Butler Rose is delighted to be working on behalf of our client, a well-established and respected manufacturer based in Taunton. We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong procurement background to contribute to a forward-thinking and sustainability-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting the wider procurement team in delivering a high-quality procurement service.
* Liaising between suppliers, internal departments, and customers to ensure efficient supply chain operations.
* Identifying new suppliers, maintaining existing supplier relationships, and conducting site visits where necessary.
* Negotiating and agreeing new contracts, including discount structures and volume rebates.
* Communicating supply issues with the planning team and proposing solutions.
* Analysing price trends and their impact on procurement strategies.
* Presenting market insights and potential growth opportunities to the wider business.
* Developing and refining procurement strategies in collaboration with senior management.
* Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on both commercial and technical considerations.
Key Requirements:
* CIPS Level 3 qualification (desirable) or willingness to work towards it.
* Minimum of 3 years' buying experience, preferably in manufacturing.
* Strong proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with MRP systems.
* Proactive, motivated, and a team player with excellent attention to detail and negotiation skills.
Benefits:
* Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30
* Full study support for CIPS (study completed within work hours)
* Generous pension contribution
